Tooth Rot

Now I know why pregnancy is so hard on oral health. I've discovered that sucking on hard candy helps immensely with the watery feeling I have in my mouth. I've disposed of several pieces of candy this afternoon. I'm not sure what the result will be when all that sugar gets into my stomach.

Just so you know

Wow. I'd not checked into my blog for so long that I was surprised by the blue background and new header! Now that is sad.

Anyway, I realize that it's been a while since I popped in here. I've actually mentally posted several things, but I realize that doesn't mean anything to anyone but myself. (As is the case with so many things in my life.)

I have been busy with two specific things. One is a big contest for digital scrappers. It's called the Amazing Digi Scrapping Race (ADSR) and I've teamed up with someone to work together to complete challenges and create scrapbooking layouts. We have a blog and you can check in there if you're interested.

Also, those of you who know anything about me know that February 1 -15th is busy for me. I'm trying to get ready for Valentine's Day around here - plus take care of my usual responsibilities. All this is being thrown for a loop because I am in the beginning stages of morning sickness and would really rather just stay in bed. (Aren't you glad you read this far?)

Yes, baby #6 is on the way. If all goes well, she (I've already ordered) will be here the first week of September. I haven't actually seen a doctor yet...and don't have an appointment either. And if things don't work out well, (if it's a boy, for one) and this pregnancy meets a challenge or two, I've got that worked out with God. He supports me = I accept the trial. I'm not asking for grief here, but sometimes the peace of mind is a great strength.

Anyway, I really don't even feel like typing right now. I just wanted to let you know that I haven't stopped blogging - completely. And I still have a goal to reach 500 by... shoot, can't remember the actual goal.

Mommy's special things

I am in the process of weaning Joseph. He will be 14 months old this month and I think it's time. He'd started pulling on the neck of my shirt last weekend which was a good motivator for me. Now he's down to a feeding just before bed. He's still missing his morning snuggle, but is slowly adjusting.

So now that I don't need my nursing pads as much, I didn't get as worried when Joseph found a partial box in my room and started playing with/scattering them. He really decorated the room with them. Then I found him blowing his nose on them. Very funny. Silly little boy.

I was giving the boys haircuts tonight in the bathroom. While I was cutting Nathan's hair Joseph was wandering around us, keeping himself occupied. I had to rescue the very nasty toilet brush from him at one point. Imagine my delight when I glanced down and saw him getting into my panty liners. Apparently those seem like tissues to him, too. I took the box from him and set it on the counter.

Rebekah was on the counter. Now she's interested. She wants to know what they're for! I said that they go in my underwear sometimes. She mentioned that they were very soft. I guess they are...never really thought about it. Eventually, Nathan's hair is done and he's off to the shower. So while Daniel is in the chair, Rebekah explains the purpose of the panty liners to him and says that they are very soft. Please...I don't want my 8 1/2-year-old son to know these things!

Kids. Sheesh.

Happy Birthday, Leah!

Leah is FIVE! This a big birthday in our family because it means you can now (legally) chew gum. That's all they really care about around the 5th birthday. Leah made sure she got a piece of gum today. We should have just gotten her a pack of gum and called it good!

We usually go to dinner at the b-day person's choice of restaurants. Leah picked McDonald's (it was that or Wendy's) and since we had to be out this morning, we turned it into a b-day lunch. They played in the play place until they were sweaty. Gross. We opened presents when we got home. Leah got dresses, shoes, underwear, accessories, a vacuum/ironing board/iron combo and a repaired cradle. (She's been asking about that broken cradle for longer than I can remember - THANK YOU, Chad!)

We had cake after dinner. She requested a baby cake and I did the best I could. I had a hard time really motivating myself. Luckily, I had some doll parts in my sewing room stash (How many people can say that?). It seemed like a well-received cake.

Joseph had a tete-a-tete with the "baby." hehe

Just before bed, we each gave Leah a coupon for some kind of service. Here's mine.

Overall, I think it was a good day for her. It wasn't without some grumpy looks and folded-arm foot stomping, but miracles aren't always required.

Happy Birthday, Leah! I can't believe you're five years old already! You get to start Kindergarten in the Fall. YAHOO! My little girl is growing up!
