Slow-growing

I gave Nathan a haircut this morning, literally minutes before the bus arrived. It was a quick and sloppy job involving the 1/2" and 1/4" guards on the clippers. We quickly dusted him off, sent him up for a new shirt and out he went.

He was just telling me that only two people noticed his haircut...his best friend, Robert and his teacher. Then, he wisely deduced the reason why his teacher noticed:

"Because my hair didn't have very much time to grow."

Very true. Maybe she wouldn't have noticed anything by tomorrow. ;)

Three Months!

Our baby turned 3 months on Friday! She's growing into quite a chubby little body. And I love it. There are not many things that are better fat...paychecks and babies are exceptions.

This video was taken this morning. She's turned into quite the little talker and I was trying to capture it. Unfortunately, she was more interested in looking at me. I did get her talking a tiny bit, but nothing like she can when she's trying to keep herself from the pits of boredom.

I know I'm a little (OK...enormously) biased, but don't you think she's got an adorable smile? You may notice the bib. We've been drooling a little while now, but she's started soaking her clothes and it doesn't seem like a good thing when the weather is so cold.

I snapped this picture one afternoon when I saw Leah sitting on Joseph's bed with him on her lap. She was slowly rocking him and he was sitting very still. She's definitely got the Mommy gene! You'll notice how much of her lap he takes up. A true family bond...I love it!

OK...some of you still haven't seen my new hair. It's kind of hard to show. And I'm gritting my teeth to put a picture of myself on here. I just would rather have the image of myself that I keep in my head; it's a little kinder. This was right before bed, too. (I have a whole list of excuses for this photo.) I was trying to keep my 2nd chin out of the picture. I think I almost succeeded.

Joseph's First Haircut

I'm going to try to back-up and let you know of some of the things that have happened since I fell off the blogging chair.

Joseph got his first haircut on 3 Jan. It was getting a little shaggy, though some people may not have noticed. When you have thin, blond hair you just look bald.

Here are his before pictures. You can see that his face needs a little scrubbing. That just makes him seem more like a Collett. All the kids in this family take turns looking like that. They have really lazy parents.

Here is the after photo. I used the 3/8" guard on the clippers and buzzed his head. Doesn't he look so cute? :)


And now that it's been 2 months, he's in need of another buzzing. (But remember, he has lazy parents.)

F inished and unfinished projects

Here are some things I've been working on. Some are done. Most are not.

I got the girls' Easter dresses made during General Conference. It's amazing how much better I listened while I had my hands busy than when I just sit in front of the TV and watch. Leah's is pink, Rebekah's is yellow.



Here is the quilt square that I was creating for my Enrichment Quilt Group. I didn't like the way it turned out, so I went for 'plan B' and ended up with this. The next pattern is paper-pieced sailboats for June.

Leah got her hair cut this morning. Her FIRST haircut (if you don't count the snip she took herself during the summer last year)! Here are before and after shots. It's still long, but seems so short to me. I'm just hoping that it will be 100% easier to comb through now.

Here is Leah's "name blanket." This is a reward that she's earning. Every day that she wakes up from a nap without crying, screaming, or being grumpy in any way (she has to "wake up happy"), she gets to put a sticker on a chart. After 30 stickers, she gets her blanket. So far she has 16 stickers. (She didn't earn one today.) I just have to put the top and bottom and batting together.

And this is my "in-over-my-head" "eternally-unfinished" project. I'm quilting the quilt from last year's quilt group. This is only half of it. I'm not even 1/4 through it. But won't it be nice when it's done?
